Wilma O’Gorman, age 89, of DeSoto, Kansas, formerly of Calmar, Iowa, died Friday, October 2, 2009, at the Hillside Village Nursing Home in DeSoto, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, in Calmar, Iowa, with Msgr. Cletus Hawes presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 at the church on Tuesday morning. Schluter – Balik Funeral Home French Chapel in Calmar, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements. Wilma Frances (Kudrna) O’Gorman was born April 6, 1920, to Albert and Mary (Kafka) Kudrna in Decorah, IA. She attended St. Aloysius Catholic School and Calmar High School in Calmar, IA. Wilma had jobs cleaning homes, working at Bucheit Produce, The Home Café, and was custodian at South Winneshiek High School all in Calmar. On April 17, 1971, she married Leo O’Gorman in South Dakota. Wilma was a member of St Aloysius Catholic Church. She enjoyed her family, discussing sports with her grandson, Terry and bingo. Wilma retired in 1985 and in 2004, she moved to Olathe, KS, to be closer to family. Wilma’s survivors include her daughter: Alberta (Alvin) Riha, New Hampton, IA. Son: Joel (Myrta) Mason, Burke, VA. Two step-sons: Mark O’Gorman, Mason City, IA and Craig O’Gorman, Montana. Five grandchildren: Annette (Terry) Paxton, Amy Riha, Andrew (Laura) Riha, Kristy (Donald) Eggelston, and Janine (Kevin) Scott. Six great grandchildren: Jacob and Matthew Paxton, Becca Riha, Abby Eggelston, and Hailey and Morgan Riha. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband: Leo on June 8, 1999. Her parents: Albert and Mary Kudrna. One brother: Frank (Mildred) Kudrna. One sister: Margaret (Joseph) Benda. One step-daughter: Mary Lou O’Gorman and one step-son: Leo O’Gorman, Jr.
