William Galligan

William Galligan, age 59, of Waverly, IA, died on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at UW Madison Hospital in Madison, WI. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas, Iowa, with Rev. Nick Radloff presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the Church. Memorials may be sent to the family at: 1315 3rd Ave SW, Waverly, IA 50677 William Galligan was born January 18, 1962 in Mason City, Iowa to Paul and Agnes (Gerleman) Galligan. William graduated from Turkey Valley in 1980 where he excelled at football and track. Following High school, Bill went to play football at Northern Iowa Area Community College. Bill married Jolene Mihm on August 11, 1984 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas, Iowa. In 1986, he graduated from the University of Northern Iowa. In his time at UNI, he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Bill was a very hard worker. He spent 27 years working for Pepsi in Mason City and Waterloo. He would then go on to work for John Deere. Bill was very proud of his work and took pride in working for Pepsi and John Deere. He enjoyed camping, boating, gambling, playing black jack, watching sports, playing tricks on people, and going on vacations. Bill was a kind-hearted man that loved to help people. He was a supportive father and was always his kids’ biggest fan. He is survived by his son: Paul (special friend: Emily Starkey) Galligan, Golden, CO. Daughters: Ashley Galligan, Waverly, IA and Nicole (fiancé, Luke Jeziorski) Galligan, Ankeny, IA. Grandson: Oberon Beatty. Sister: Sue (Jeff) Busta, Calmar, IA. Brother: Patrick (Channon) Galligan, Wausau, WI. Brothers-in-law: Gary (Janice) Mihm, West Union, IA; Bill Mihm, St. Lucas, IA and Jim (Kris) Cayton, Dysart, IA. Sisters-in-law: Deb (Steve) Pesek, New Hampton, IA and Tammy (Al) Thornton, Decorah, IA along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Jolene in 2013. Parents: Paul and Agnes (Gerleman) Galligan. Brother: Bob Galligan. Father and mother-in-law: Marinus and Margaret (Mitchell) Mihm. Sister-in-law: Jacque Cayton.
