William Curtis "Curt" Gjetley

William Curtis “Curt” Gjetley, age 96, of Cresco (formerly of Decorah), IA passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, IA. A private family service will be held at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home in Decorah. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to his family at: 704 Washington St., Decorah, IA 52101 Curtis Gjetley was born on November 10, 1924 in Decorah, IA the son of William and Stena (Vick) Gjetley. He attended school in rural Decorah. Curtis worked on the family farm and for the Decorah Creamery Company for many years. He loved raising sheep and driving horses, dancing and visiting with friends. In August of 1956, Curtis was united in marriage to Diane Montgomery at the Congregational Church in Decorah. From this union they had two children, Bruce and Rebecca Halse. He is survived by his son Bruce and his daughter Rebecca along with six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Stena (Vick) Gjetley. Sisters: Lylas Rasmussen, Edith Naley and Ruth Meise Dohm. Daughter-in-law: Kim Gjetley.
