William (Bill) Langreck, age 77, died Monday January 15, 2024 at Gundersen’s Health System in Lacrosse WI from complications due to a chronic lung condition. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the St. Luke’s Catholic Church at 215 East Main St., St. Lucas, IA with Rev. Nick Radloff presiding. Burial will be in the St. Luke’s Cemetery at a later date with full military rites. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church and after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning at the church. William Julius Langreck was born December 21, 1946, in West Union. He was born to Edward and Agnes (Brincks) Langreck. He attended St. Lucas Catholic School until 9th grade. William married and from this union two children were born, James and Michael. The marriage later ended. William then married Katherine (Kathy) Wild on May 23, 1981. To this union two children were born, Daniel and Mary. He was a farmer since he was little, dairy farming was his life and he loved being outdoors. He enjoyed driving the gator and working on the second-generation farm. He enjoyed going to cattle shows with his children, playing 500 card game, wildflowers, sunrises and sunsets. He loved taking his grandson Dalton fishing and having his granddaughter Kaitlynn ride with him in the loader while feeding cattle. He also loved seeing deer pictures from Dan’s deer cameras. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, a member of the Fayette County DHIA board and served in the Armed Forces. He served for a period of time before being honorably discharged due to hardship with his father’s health. He also received a quilt of valor. William is survived by his wife Kathy, St. Lucas, IA; brother and sister-in-law Gerald (Diane) Langreck, Calmer, IA; sister-in-laws, Joyce Langreck, Decorah, IA; Mildred (Robert) Allan, Soldiers Grove, WI; Darlene Wild, Waukon, IA; Children: James Langreck, St. Lucas, IA; Michael (Margaret) Langreck, St. Lucas, IA; Daniel (Kaleena) Langreck, West Union, IA; Mary Langreck (fiancé Jonathon Ziemke), St. Lucas, IA; Grandchildren Kaitlynn and Dalton Langreck, West Union, IA; Jonathon’s son Bradley Ziemke, Wazeka, MN. As well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Agnes Langreck; In-laws Millard and Jean Wild; Brother LaVerne Langreck; Sister and brother-in-law Darlene (Paul) Elsbernd; Brother-in-law George Wild; Niece Chelsey Wild.
