Wesley Kuboushek, age 76, of Calmar, IA, died on Sunday, October 22, 2017 near Calmar, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home French Chapel, 202 South Washington Street, Calmar, IA and also after 9:30 a.m., at the Church on Tuesday morning. Wesley Louis Kuboushek was born on October 12, 1941 the son of James and Rose (Kovarik) Kuboushek in Decorah, IA. He graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1960. Wesley married Judy Mashek on May 25, 1968 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar. Together they were blessed with four children: Janet, Jeff, Brian and Kathy. Wesley took over the family farm and farmed full time until 1990 when he started working at Graphics in Calmar. Wesley and Judy moved to Calmar in 1994. Wesley had a quiet but generous and giving nature. He continued to work part time at Graphics until his death. When not working, he could be found tinkering in his garage with woodworking projects, trying to catch the biggest fish, listening to polka music, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, playing cards and gardening. Above all, he treasured time with his family, especially his grandkids. Left to cherish his memory are his four children: Janet Kuboushek, Prior Lake, MN; Jeff (Charity) Kuboushek, Ossian, IA; Brian Kuboushek, Ridgeway, IA; and Kathy (Tim) Green, Ossian, IA. Eight grandchildren: Megan and Blake Kazynski, Noah and Cael Kuboushek, Katelyn and Kyle Kuboushek, and Theo and Myles Green. One brother: Leonard (Betty) Kuboushek, Spillville, IA. One brother-in-law: John (Dorothy) Mashek, Calmar, IA. Two sisters-in-law: Marge Mracek, Cresco, IA; Gayle Mashek, Fredericksburg, IA. Wesley was preceded in death by his wife Judy on November 30, 2012. Parents: James and Rose Kuboushek. One granddaughter: Isabel Green. One sister in infancy: Dorothy Kuboushek. Three brothers-in-law: Robert Mashek, Stanley Mashek and Leonard Mracek. His father and mother-in-law: William and Regina (Shileny) Mashek.
