Wayne Timmerman

Wayne Timmerman, age 89, of Decorah, IA died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Aase Haugen senior services in Decorah, IA. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia, IA. with Pastor Alan Wicks presiding burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 25, 2016 at the Schluter Balik Funeral Home in Decorah and one hour before services at the church on Tuesday. Wayne Curtis Timmerman was born November 14, 1926 to Arno and Delyla (Bollman) Timmerman in Postville, IA. Wayne attended school in Castalia and graduated from Postville High School in 1944. Wayne married Delores Osmundson in October of 1947. Three children, Gary, Kathy, and Becky, were born to this union. The couple later divorced. Wayne farmed near Castalia for twentyfive years. He then moved to Postville and worked for R.E.C. for eighteen years. Wayne married Betty (Schutte) Ruckdaschel on April 19, 1985 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia and resided in Postville. They moved to Decorah in 1998 and then to Vennehjem in 2014. Wayne enjoyed his garden, refinishing furniture, playing cards, traveling, and activities with his family. He was active at Zion Lutheran Church where he spent three terms on the Church Council, including one term as the Council President, and four years on the Finance Committee. Wayne is survived by his wife Betty, Decorah, IA; son, Gary Timmerman, Decorah, IA; two daughters, Kathy (Jon) Steege, Maynard, IA and Becky Timmerman, Buena Park, CA; three grandchildren, Paul (Kaye) Steege, Cedar Rapids, IA; Larissa (Troy) Rasmussen, Jackson, MN; and Chris Leon, Buena Park CA; two greatgrandchildren, Andrew and Elise Rasmussen; brother; Kenneth (Mary) Timmerman, Decorah, IA; five nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Joan (Sam) Gisleson, Luana, IA. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Arno and Delyla Timmerman and one brother, Cloy Timmerman. Memorials may be sent in Wayne's memory to Zion Lutheran Church, 117 W.
