Virgie Evangeline (Mosby) Granger, formerly of Plymouth and Minnetonka MN, died on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah, Iowa. No public memorial is planned. A private family interment will take place in West Union, IA at a later date. Virgie was born October 12, 1922 in West Union, IA, to Oscar and Selma (Anderson) Mosby. She was baptized and confirmed in the St. Olaf Norwegian Lutheran Church in West Union. She attended West Union public schools and graduated in 1940 from West Union High School. While in school, Virgie was frequently a soprano soloist at church, school and community events. She attended the University of Northern Iowa where she earned a B.A. Degree in Vocal Music and, as a young woman, Virgie taught high school music in several Iowa cities. Later, Virgie received an M.A. Degree in English at California State University at Los Angeles. She taught English in Silver Bay, Bloomington and Minneapolis MN. Eventually, she became a professor of English at William Paterson University in New Jersey where she taught for 2 decades, specializing in linguistics, writing and English as a second language. Virgie was united in marriage with Robert L. Granger Sr. in December of 1942 during WW 2. Bob had also grown up in West Union, IA. They lived in 7 states together and eventually they moved to Plymouth, MN, where they enjoyed 30 years of retirement. Virgie’s interests included traveling, PEO and Questers groups in Wayzata and Plymouth. Preceding her in death were Virgie’s parents, her husband, Robert, her son, Robert Granger Jr., her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wayne and Darlene Granger and her nephew, Meredith Granger. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Robert Krzyzanowski, 3 grandsons, Daniel (Erica) Krzyzanowski, David (Sarah) Krzyzanowski and Max Granger, her niece Janelyn (Virg) Papstein and her two beloved great-granddaughters, Julia and Emily Krzyzanowski.
