Vera Cline

Vera Cline, age 89, of Decorah, IA died on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah.Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Stone Ridge Community Church, 1111 Montgomery St. in Decorah, IA, with Pastor Mike Simiele presiding. Burial will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery.There will be visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Monday morning at the church.Vera Arlene (Konichek) Cline was born on May 5, 1928 the daughter of John and Harriet (Entwisle) Konichek in Prairie du Chien, WI. She graduated from high school in Wadena, IA in 1946. Vera married John Cline on December 18, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Oelwein, IA. They farmed together north of Decorah. John passed away in 1970. Vera stayed on the farm until moving to Decorah in 2005. Vera enjoyed making quilt blocks, doing ceramics, gardening, embroidering, playing cards with friends and checking out her grandkids animals. Vera is survived by her children: Shirley (Tim) Abbott, Decorah, IA; Lois (Dan Bullerman) Myers, Calmar, IA; Bobby Cline, Decorah, IA; Mary (Leo) Balk, Little Turkey, IA; Gail (Mike) Kruse, Lawler, IA. Grandchildren: Candace (Shane) Riehle, Joshua (Julie) Abbott, Dusty (Kristy) Myers and Danielle (Sam) Wenthold. Jessica (James) Weissenfluh, Jamie (Corey) Lange, Jodi (Ryan) Pierce, Leo Balk, Jennifer Kruse. Great grandchildren: Tiffany, Chandler and Brendon Riehle; Isabelle, Presley and Kale Abbott; Morgan, Maci and Blagen Wenthold, Landon Kruse, Layne and Gavin Weissenfluh. Brother: Norman (Linda) Konichek, Eagle, WI. Sisters: Sandra Kiewiet, Grundy Center, IA and Carol Williams, Kansas City, MO. Brother-in-law Dale Folkerts, Grundy Center, IA. Sister-in-law: Wilma Cline, West Union, IA.Vera was preceded in death by her husband John. Parents: John and Harriet (Entwisle) Konichek. Sister: Jackie Folkerts. Brother: Gene (Betty) Konichek. Brothers-in-law: Larry Williams and Calvin Kiewiet.
