Thomas S. Murley passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Shell Rock Nursing Home in Shell Rock, Iowa. Private Family Services will be held at a later date. Thomas Shaw Murley was born July 10, 1932 in Pine Island, Minnesota, the son of Tom and Martha (Shaw) Murley. Tom graduated from Janesville (IA) High School with the class of 1950. He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Peeper of Arlington, IA on August 31, 1953. To this union four children were born: Deborah, Steven, Cynthia and Pamela. Tom served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1954. He was stationed out of San Diego, CA where he was on the aircraft carrier the USS Boxer. After leaving the service, Tom worked at John Deere and Rath Packing in Waterloo, IA, later attending Gates Business College in Waterloo, and then became a C.P.A. The family lived in Nebraska and Illinois while Tom worked for the I.R.S. They moved back and settled in Denver, IA while Tom worked for an accounting firm in Waterloo, later buying the practice and working until 1980 when Tom semi-retired and moved to Wisconsin where he worked part-time and hobby farmed part-time for many years. Tom was a man of few words but had a wonderful sense of humor and a bit of a sarcastic side that left many of us laughing and having cherished memories. He was preceded in death by his beloved Shirley Ann on December 25, 2009; his parents Tom and Martha Murley; brother James Murley; and in-laws Fred and Florence (Kamerer) Peeper. Tom is survived by his four children: Deborah Saunders (Leonard) of Polo, IL, Steven Murley (Kris) of Austin, MN, Cynthia Osborn (Carl) of Mesa, AZ and Pamela DePuew (Ken) of Waverly, IA. He was also blessed with 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. He is also survived by his sisters Ramona Neuman and Faye Renner, and brothers Richard and David Murley.
