Teresa Barr

Teresa M. Barr, 85, of Decorah, IA, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 11, 2018 at Newburg United Methodist Church in Newburg Township, MN, rural Mabel, with Rev. Sharon Goetzinger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, one hour before the service, at the church.Teresa Marcelyn Barr was born February 17, 1933 in in rural Mahnomen, MN, which is where she graduated from high school.  She later married Raymond L. Barr to start their journey together.  Teresa worked at various business positions with a wide range of responsibilities throughout her pre-motherhood days within the United States, to include stops in Colorado, Florida, Texas, North Dakota and Minnesota.  She absolutely loved reading and would read anything available to her, which meant non-fiction books, fiction books, magazines, newspapers, flyers, television guides and even instruction manuals.  Teresa always tried to maintain a solid positive attitude with some whitticism thrown in on the side.  She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Levi Joseph Dentz and Philomene Laubach Dentz; her husband Raymond L. Barr on January 6, 1998; and brothers Melvin, Laverne, Vernon and Robert Dentz.  Teresa is survived by her two sons, Kelly (Laurie) Barr of Rochester, MN and Kyle Barr of Caledonia, MN, whom she always loved and supported.  She is survived by her dear sister Phyllis Nischl.  Teresa cherished and will additionally be deeply missed by her seven grandchildren: Ashley, Jacob, Dillon, Mathew, Maranda, Shannon and Grace, plus her two great grandchildren, Aiden and Jasper.
