Steven James Bruening

Steven J. Bruening, age 41, of Tujunga, CA. and formerly of Decorah, died Thursday, February 18, 2004 at Pacifica Hospital in Sun Valley CA., following a long illness. Memorial Service Mass will be held on Friday, April 16, 2004 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah, by Rev. Gary F. Krapfl, with private family inurnment in St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Fjelstul Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Steven James Bruening, age 41, was born April 22, 1962 in Decorah, Iowa to Duane and Eileen (Murphy) Bruening. He attended St. Benedict School and graduated from Decorah High School with the class of 1980. He attended Virginia Military Academy in Virginia for three years. He completed his college education at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA., earning a degree in History and English. Steven enjoyed traveling in Europe and the Orient. He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael on January 26, 1999. Steven died February 18, 2004 at Pacifica Hospital of the Valley in Sun Valley, California at the age of 41. He is survived by parents, Duane and Eileen Bruening of Decorah; three sisters, Helen (Guy) Barbier of France, Mary Rayburn of Baltimore, MD and Elizabeth (Robert) Cowie of Decorah; three brothers, Dr. Frederick (Tammy) Bruening of Grand Blanc, MI., Gregory (Vickie) Bruening of Decorah and Keith (Amy) Bruening of Decorah.
