Steve Remmen

Steve Remmen, age 64, of Decorah, IA, died on Monday, December 23, 2013, at his home from a sudden illness. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church, 1725 Washington Prairie Road, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Mark Kvale presiding. Burial will be held in the Spring at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah, IA. Friends may call from 2:00-5:00 p.m., on Friday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah. Steve is survived by his wife: Carol Remmen, Decorah, IA. His parents: Glenn and Ruth Remmen, Decorah, IA. His three daughters: Karith Remmen and her daughter, Kaitlyn Humpal, Des Moines, IA; Laurie Remmen and Corey Ellingson, Jerico, IA; and Carolin Remmen and Sherman Watt, Decorah, IA. One sister: Nancy (Bruce) Layton, Bethesda, MD. Uncle: Rudy Remmen, Decorah, IA. Cousins: Lila Holets, Sylvia Benzing, Glorine Puralewski, Marvin Olson, Maureen Rohret, Gary Remmen, Wayne Remmen and Craig Remmen. Brothers and sisters-in-law: David (Lynn) Harris, Stoughton, WI, and Randi Harris, Postville, IA. Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents: Gilbert and Ida Remmen and Ralph and Agnes Bullard. Uncles and Aunts: Olaf and Marie Remmen, Velma Remmen and Anna & Morris Olson and cousin, Dennis Olson. His father and mother-in-law: Leo “Dutch” and Lillian (Monson) Harris One brother-in-law: Richard Paine.
