Stanley David Novak, 37, of Spillville, IA went to be with the Lord on October 6, 2021 at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Chicago, after a hard fought battle with stomach cancer. Stan was born on January 23, 1984 to David and Irene (Lensing) Novak in Decorah, IA. He grew up in Spillville, Grand Meadow, MN, Canton, SD and St. Charles, MN where he graduated from high school in 2002. During high school he worked for Al Heim and Mike Heim milking cows and part-time at NAPA Auto Parts in St. Charles. He attended NICC in Calmar, IA where he got his associate’s degree in auto mechanics. He worked for his uncle at Howard’s Tire & Repair, Spillville, then his uncle at Perry Novak Electric, Decorah. Stan really liked motorcycling and kayaking with friends, horseshoes at Riverside Park, fishing the local ponds and rivers, pitting for his cousin, Ben Moudry, at the racetrack, and just plain hanging out with friends and family at his shop. Stan was known for his gut-busting one-line comments that would brighten everyone’s day with laughter at work and wherever he went. He was a Ford pickup lover and a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Iowa State Cyclones. Stan loved rock music and going to rock concerts with his friends. If you dropped in on him at his shop it was quite likely he’d be listening to his favorite bands on “Hair Nation”. He is survived by his parents, Dave and Irene Novak, St. Charles; his sisters, Deanna (Nick) Wiersma, Chatfield, MN and Amy (Ryan) Tjepkes, St. Charles; girlfriend, Corey Dahl, Spillville; nieces and nephews, Stan’s godson Collin, Danica and Clayton Wiersma, Ivy Tjepkes; grandmother, Marian (Lensing) Retterath, Spillville; aunts and uncles, Wanda Cole, Spillville; Marvin (LaDeane) Lensing, Cresco, IA; Joe Lensing, Spillville; Ivan (Jackie) Lensing, Fort Atkinson, IA; Russell (Audrey) Lensing, Calmar; Wanita (Bruce) Phillips, Calmar; Ernie (Sherri) Lensing, Calmar; Eugene (Julie) Lensing, Blue Grass, IA; Tammy (Darrell) Schmitt, Spillville; Andy (Jill) Lensing, Ridgeway, IA; Ron (Mary) Novak, Protivin, IA; Perry (Wendy) Novak, Decorah; June (Allen) Moudry, Protivin; Cindy (Joe) Streif, Broken Arrow, OK; plus many cousins.
