Shirley Holtz

Shirley Holtz, age 64 of Decorah, IA, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021 at Accura Healthcare of Cresco. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Decorah, IA. With Rev. Donald Hertges presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday morning. The Schluter-Balik Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Shirley Regina Holtz was born on July 15, 1956 the daughter of Edward and Celeste (Kral) McCabe in Decorah. She married David Holtz in 1974. Shirley was a graduate of Decorah High School and later attended NICC in Calmar. She had many jobs over the years but she most enjoyed being a homemaker and mother. One of her favorite jobs during those years was working at Walt Disney World. Besides spending time with family and friends, Shirley had a passion for traveling, baking, gardening, shopping, weather watching and fishing. She had a bright and energetic personality and always knew how to put a smile on the people around her. She touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life. She is survived by her daughters: Anastasia (Lucas) Rocksvold, Decorah, IA. Katherine (Mike) O’neill, Decorah, IA and Celeste Holtz, Decorah, IA. Grandchildren: Chelsey, Ryan, June, Abigail, Bannen, Russel, Hannah, Linkan and Scarlett. Sister: Mary McCabe, Decorah, IA. Brothers: Dean (Theresa) McCabe, Decorah, IA and Mark (Charlotte) McCabe, Owatonna, MN along with many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Celeste (Kral) McCabe. Son: Edward “Eddie” Holtz.
