Sam Franzen, age 86, of Fort Atkinson, IA, died on Sunday, May 12, 2013, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 2013, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, in St. Lucas, Iowa, with Rev. Nick March presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas. There will be a rosary at 4:00 and a scripture service at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday. Sam is survived by his two children: Clyde (Stacy) Franzen, Dyersville, IA and Renae Franze, Fort Atkinson, IA. Five grandchildren: Kailee (Brad) Saeugling, Dubuque, IA; Chesnee Franzen, Dubuque, IA; Kacee Franzen, West Union, IA; Danny “DJ” Eudaley and Kayla Avenarius, both of Dyersville, IA. One great grandson: Jaxson Saeugling, Dubuque, IA. Five sisters: Mary (Charlie) Zook, Sioux City, IA; Lu Schuler, Waterloo, IA; Eileen (Ken) Hill, Dike, IA; Marilyn (Dale) Bedard, Waterloo, IA; and Jane (Jim) Jones, Leon, IA. One sister-in-law: Geraldine (Bill) Stemmons, LaRussell, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Hannah (Aldrich) Franzen on Sept. 24, 1997. His parents: Joseph H. and Johanna (Baumler) Franzen. Brother, Alvin Franzen. Sisters: Dorothy Moellers and Kathleen Gorby. Sisters and brothers-in-law: Ella Bell, Angeline Reak, Chloe Tillery, Clair Moellers, Lee Sweitzer, Jim Schuler, Gene Gorby, Clyde Davenport, Graham Tillery and Tim Bell. Nephews: David Moellers, Tim Bell, and Tom Davenport. Nieces: Denise Hill, Mary Christine Sweitzer, Marie (Nana) Davenport and Jean Davenport.
