Ruth Huber

Ruth Huber, age 95, of Decorah, IA, died on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 1, 2018, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 307 West Main Street, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Donald Hertges presiding. Burial will be in the St. Benedict cemetery in Decorah.Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Ave, in Decorah and also after 9:30 a.m. at the church on Monday morning. There will be a rosary following the visitation on Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. Ruth Magdalene (Hageman) Huber was born on March 19, 1923 the daughter of Fred and Amelia (Gesing) Hageman in Calmar, IA. She attended grade school at St. Aloysius Catholic School in Calmar. Ruth married Conrad Huber on February 9, 1944 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah, IA. Together they had two sons: Wayne and Alan. Ruth and Conrad farmed together north of Decorah in Hesper township until 1989 when Conrad passed away. She moved in to town shortly after his passing in 1989. Ruth enjoyed baking, gardening and playing cards. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah.Ruth is survived by her sons: Wayne (Patricia) Huber, Decorah, IA and Alan (Peggi Sharp) Huber, Los Angeles, CA. Grandchildren: Mary Huber, Brooklyn, NY; Cameron Sharp, Brooklyn, NY and Carolyn Sharp, Flagstaff, AZ. Sister: Anita Lansing, Decorah, IA. Sister-in-law: Theresa Huber, Cedar Rapids, IA.Ruth was preceded in death by her husband: Conrad Huber on June 2, 1989. Parents: Fred and Amelia (Gesing) Hageman. Brother: Parnell (Nora) Hageman. Sister: Rose Hageman. Brothers-in-law: Carroll Lansing and Earl Huber. Sister-in-law: Ruth (John) Waldron.
