Ruby Teslow

Ruby Teslow, age 88, of Decorah, IA, died on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the Barthell O.E.S Home in Decorah, IA. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2022, at the Glenwood Lutheran Church, 1197 Old Stage Road with Rev. Peter Kowitz presiding. Burial will be in the Glenwood East Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service at the church on Friday morning. Ruby Carol Hesse was born to Paul and Clara Hesse on April 30, 1933. She was baptized and confirmed at the Salem Church in Ludlow Township. She later met and married Nathan Teslow at the Salem Church on June 28, 1951. They had three children Bernard, Sherri, and Jeffery. They farmed for many years on Nathan’s family farm in Glenwood Township. After Nathan passed away, Ruby worked at Wellington and later at the Super 8 motel. After several years, Ruby and Sherri moved to a condo in Decorah. Ruby enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and sewing school clothes for Sherri. She loved sharing stories of her childhood. She was devoted to her religion and serving her church. She was an active member of the Glenwood circle. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandson Nathan. After breaking her hip, she was taken to Eastern Star nursing home. There she made many friends who enjoyed her stories and sharing treats with her. She continued to enjoy church services and the many activities provided here. She will be missed dearly by everyone who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children: Bernard (Janet) Teslow, Decorah, IA and Sherri Teslow, Decorah, IA. Daughter-in-law: Brenda Teslow, Ossian, IA. Grandchildren: Todd (Christy) Teslow, Ridgeway, IA; Travis Teslow, North Washington, IA. Step-granddaughter: Tammy (Lee) Tangen, Decorah, IA. Great grandchildren: Tyler, Jayden and Trevor. Step great-grandchildren: Lyndsey, Bret and Tory. Great-great grandson: Nathan Teslow. Brother: Ronnie (Shirley) Hesse, Waukon, IA. Sisters-in-law: LaVonne Hesse, Waukon, IA and Sandy Hesse, Waukon, IA along with several nieces and nephews. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Nathan. Son: Jeffrey Teslow. Parents: Paul and Clara (Snitker) Hesse. Sister: Marian (Herbert) Straate. Brothers: Roger Hesse and Orville Hesse. Step-mother: Mildred Hesse. Father and mother-in-law: Benjamin and Jeanette (Gullickson) Teslow. Brother-in-law: Howard (Audrey) Teslow. Sisters-in-law: Irene (Norman) Halverson, Harriet Teslow and Geraldine Teslow.
