Roy W. Smith, age 47, of Calmar, Iowa, died on Sunday, November 9, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa, from fibrosis of the lung. A time of gathering will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2008, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel in Calmar, Iowa. No formal services are being planned. Roy’s survivors include his two sons: Roy (Amanda) Smith, Jr., El Paso, TX and Daniel Smith, Baltimore, MD. One daughter: Amber Smith, Baltimore, MD. His parents: Frank and Mary Smith, Baltimore, MD. Two grandchildren: Joseph Lee Andrews and Joshua Mathew Smith. One sister: Rose Marie Morrow, Baltimore, MD and one brother: Frank Smith, Baltimore, MD. Significant other: Ann Halweg, Calmar, IA, and her children: Matthew Halweg, Manhattan, KS; Thomas Halweg, Ft. Hood, Killeen, TX and Daniel Halweg, Ft. Hood, Killeen, TX.
