Rosetta Guess

Notice change of date for funeral to Thursday  Rosetta Guess, age 68, of Calmar, IA, died on Thursday, January 23, 2019 at Gundersen Health Systems in LaCrosse, WI. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Ave in Decorah, IA, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Donald Hertges presiding. Burial will be at a later date in the St. Benedicts Cemetery. Rosetta Guess was born on January 1, 1951 in Bowling Green, Kentucky the daughter of Henry and Mayme (Basham) Skaggs. She married Henry Guess in Kentucky before moving to Minnesota. They later divorced. Rosetta moved to Iowa where she met Joe Garrison and lived together in Cresco. After Joe’s passing on July 2, 2018, Rosetta moved to Calmar with her daughter. She enjoyed fishing, hunting ginseng and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters: Linda Sue Barrett, Kentucky and Tammy (Jamie) Mincks, Calmar, IA. Two sons: Henry David Barrett, Kentucky and Jimbo (Tonya) Guess, Kentucky. Grandchildren: Kyle (Adam) Drew, Calmar, IA; Kaylin (Robie Shindelar) Miller, Calmar, IA; Dalton (Crystal Combs) Guess, Calmar, IA; Casandra Witt, Calmar,, IA; Merry Witt, Calmar, IA; Stacy Witt, Calmar, IA; Wayne (Christi) Williams, Kentucky; Lucas Guess, Kentucky; Kelton Guess, Kentuckey and Hannah Guess, Kentucky. Great grandchildren: Jaylee Kayrose Mincks, Calmar; Dalton Tyler Mincks Jr. Calmar and Walker Lee Drew (soon to be). Siblings: Loretta Kitchens, Cresco, IA; Carlyon (Ronnie Shirly) Gammon, Kentucky; James (Lisa) Skaggs, Kentucky; Nelda Dorman, Kentucky and Janie (Steve) Bumpus, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Mamie (Basham) Skaggs. Great granddaughter: Marianna Guess. Former husband: Henry Guess. Sisters: Virginia Alvey and Dorothy Williams. Brother: Jimbo Skaggs. Special friend: Joe Garrison.
