Rosalie Rast

Rosalie Rast, age 87, of Mason City, IA, (formerly of Sumner) passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at the Heritage Care and Rehabilitation Center in Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Calmar Lutheran Church with Rev. Daryl Thompson officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Friday. In Lieu of flowers: memorials may be made in care of Kendra Homann to Children's Nebraska Foundation, 8404 Indian Hills Dr., Omaha, NE 68114 or St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 324 E 1st St., Sumner, IA 50674 Rosalie (Glock) Rast was born on March 1, 1937, to George and Lena (Balbach) Glock in Kensington, Kansas. She was confirmed on March 18, 1951, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, IA. She graduated from Elkader schools in 1956. Rosalie married Herman Rast on September 2, 1956. To this union, three children were born: David, Danial, and Deana. Rosalie and her family lived in many places: Postville, IA; Reading, PA; Decorah, IA; Monona, IA; Calmar, IA; Sumner, IA; Okeechobee, FL, and Mason City, IA. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was very active in the St. John Lutheran Ladies Aid. She enjoyed ceramics, visiting her friends and family, card club and traveling. Together, Rosalie and Herman traveled to many places. They resided at many campgrounds between Iowa, Florida, and the many other states they traveled to. Their travels took them to many other places outside the United States such as: Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Mexico, and Canada. Rosalie is survived by her husband, Herman Rast. Children: David (Tammy) Rast, South Mills, NC; Danial (Sandra) Rast, Chesapeake, VA; Deana (James) Homann, Garner, IA. Grandchildren: Mickella Rast, Alan Rast, Ashley Homann, and Sara Homann. Brother: Erwin Glock. Brother-in-law: Reinhold Rast. Sister-in-law: Rosamunde Zboch. Along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Lina Glock. Granddaughter: Kendra Homann. Sister: Pauline Harris. Brother: Harold Glock. Niece: Dana Glock. Mother-in-law: Maria Rast. Sisters-in-law: Martha (Wolf) Glock, Connie Glock, and Virginia Rast. Brother-in-law: John Zboch.
