Ronald Gene Vick was born on March 16, 1946, to Norman and Mildred (Johnson) Vick. He was baptized at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church. Ronald graduated from Decorah High School in 1964. He was drafted into the Army and fought in the Vietnam War from 1968-69 with the 101st Airborne Division. Ronald graduated from Luther College in 1972 with a degree in teaching with a major in Physical Education, and later also majored in Elementary Education. He married Deidre Ann Pederson in 1976, and in this union, two children were born: Colin & Amanda. They later divorced. Ronald was hired by the Mar Mac Community School District in the early 70s, which later merged and became MFL Mar-Mac Community School District. He was a teacher, coach, athletic director, bus driver, and, later, substitute teacher for a total of over 50 years. Over these years at the school, he coached wrestling, baseball, basketball, track, and cross country. Ronald was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, bowling, and playing cards. He would say his claim to fame was a spot in a nationally televised Pepsi commercial from the mid-70s.
Ronald is survived by his children: One son, Colin (Katie) Vick, Verona, WI. One daughter: Amanda Vick, Marquette, IA. Seven grandchildren: Chloe Hubanks, Dominic Graap, Delanie Graap, Eva Vick, Taylor Vick, Keyton Evers, and Hanna Vick.
