Robert H. Jevne

Robert “Bob” Jevne, age 69, of rural Decorah, Iowa, died on Monday, February 5, 2007, at his home from lung cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 Noon, on Saturday, February 10, 2007, at the Springfield Lutheran Church, rural Decorah, Iowa, with Rev. Norman Bauer and Rev. Ed Meyer officiating. Private burial will be at a later date. The family will greet friends after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, in Decorah, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements. Bob Jevne was born on October 20, 1937, in Winneshiek County, to Emil and Hilda (Vick) Jevne. Bob graduated from Calmar High School in 1956 and farmed his entire adult life on his farm in Springfield Township. In 2004, Bob and his wife LeAnn, established the business Bittersweet Crossing in Calmar. Bob assisted at the shop until his health would not allow him to do so. Bob is survived by his wife: LeAnn (Welch) Jevne; a son: John, Hesper, IA; mother-in-law: Harriet Welch, Mabel, MN; sisters and brothers-in-law: Becki & Terry Russell, Stoddard, WI; Jann & Jim Herzog, Iowa Falls, IA; Jackie & Gary Ward, Canton, MN; Marci & Lee Vatland, Hayfield, MN; Kathy Welch, Rochester, MN; a sister: Harriet (Clayton) Wangsness, Spring Grove, MN; a brother: Richard Jevne, New Hampton, IA; three special Godchildren: Ashley, Maggie and Will. Bob is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
