Robert Ellickson

Robert “Bob” Ellickson, age 65, of Ridgeway, Iowa, died on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at his home following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, Iowa. Friends may call after 12:30 on Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah, Iowa. The family suggests memorials to PAWS for their new animal shelter. Robert “Bob” Michael Ellickson was born on July 2, 1941, the son of Roger and Myrtle (Rovang) Ellickson in Decorah, Iowa. Bob graduated from Decorah High School in 1959 and served in the US Army and then Reserves. Bob married Janet Kovarik in August 1965 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, Iowa. Bob’s work history included the produce manager at Jack & Jill Grocery Store, service manager at Weis Buick and he started the Bright Spot Car Wash. Bob and Jan started the Country Shop Furniture Restoration Business, which they ran for many years. Bob retired in 2004, due to his declining health. Bob’s survivors include his uncle: Vern (Dorothy) Ellickson, Decorah, IA. Four cousins: Alan (Sue) Ellickson, Decorah, IA; Lee (Jean) Ellickson, Raleigh, NC; Amy Ryan, Decorah, IA and Glen (Darla) Ellickson, Decorah, IA and his former wife, Jan Ellickson, Decorah, IA. Bob was preceded in death by his parents: Roger Ellickson in 1969 and Myrtle Ellickson in 2003 and his grandparents: Clarence & Hilda Rovang and Emick & Lettie Ellickson.
