Robert “Bob” Snell, age 68, of Burr Oak, Iowa, died on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 14, 2010, at the Burr Oak United Methodist Church in Burr Oak, Iowa, with Rev. Mike Blevins presiding. Burial will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery, in Burr Oak, Iowa. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah and also after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Friday morning. Robert Donald Paul Snell was born on December 7, 1941, the son of Paul and Myrtle (Pollitt) Snell in Decorah, Iowa. Bob attended rural school at the Burr Oak #2 country school and then graduated from Canton High School in 1959. Bob married Gail Moen on January 11, 1964, at the Burr Oak Methodist Church. Bob loved farming and farmed all of his life west of Burr Oak. He loved his machinery and working the land. He always enjoyed telling a joke or two and having a good laugh. He loved to dance; especially on Tuesday nights at Nob Hill to the Memory Brothers. Bob also loved to bake chocolate chip cookies and he also made a delicious macaroni salad. Bob was a member of the Burr Oak United Methodist Church, in Burr Oak, Iowa. Robert is survived by his two brothers: Virgil Snell, Decorah, IA and Neil (Lenore) Snell, Cedar Falls, IA. One brother-in-law: Paul Halweg, Burr Oak, IA, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Robert is also survived by his special friends: James and Amy Rediske, and their son, Jeramiah, Burr Oak, IA and Lynn Kerns, Prosper, MN. Robert was preceded in death by his parents: Paul and Myrtle (Pollitt) Snell. His wife: Gail Moen Snell on June 26, 2004. One sister: Naomi Halweg on Dec. 18, 2008. One sister-in-law: LuVerne Snell on June 9, 2007. His father-in-law: Clarence Moen in 1991 and his mother-in-law: Arlene Moen in 2007. One brother-in-law: Orlando “Slim” Moen in 2000. One nephew: Daniel Snell.
