Robert O. Anderson, age 70, of Ridgeway, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at his home.
A celebration of Rob's life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Ridgeway Community Center 690 County St, Ridgeway, IA 52165. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend. Guests are also welcome to display their classic cars in honor of Rob.
He was born on April 10, 1955, in Decorah, Iowa.
Robert was the proud owner of Rob's Body Shop and Auto Sales, where he built a respected and successful business known for quality work, fairness, and genuine care for the people he served. His shop was more than a workplace- it was a gathering place where friends stopped in, and where Robert's steady smile and willingness to help were always present. He was deeply grateful to his dedicated employees, whom he taught, mentored, and worked alongside over the years, many of whom became like family.
A lifelong motorsports enthusiast, Robert was an avid stock car racer, competing locally for many years. He was well known for his Nova race car #63 with mudflaps. He brought the same passion and determination to the track that he carried into every part of his life.
Robert also dedicated four decades to the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, serving as assistant chief. His commitment to protecting and supporting his community was unwavering, and he was deeply admired by those who served alongside him.
A true dog lover, Robert spent many years breeding and raising Shih Tzus, giving each one the same warmth and attention he offered to the people in his life.
He was known for his kindness and his readiness to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Friends, neighbors, and customers alike knew they could count on him.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Helen Rue Anderson, and his brother Charles Anderson. He is survived by his sisters Donna Rinkel (Bruce) and Ellie Brandt (Larry); niece Tracey Lupa; nephews Chris Rinkel, Steve Owens, and Mark Rinkel; and 8 great nieces and nephews, as well as numerous lifelong friends, colleagues, and community members who will miss him deeply.
