Raymond "Bud" Balik

Raymond Balik, age 77, of Protivin, Iowa, died on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at the Regional Health Services of Howard County, in Cresco, Iowa, following a sudden illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, IA, by Rev. David Beckman. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2009, at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville, IA, with a rosary at 4:00 and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be visitation after 9:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning. Raymond’s survivors include his wife: Doris Balik, Protivin, IA. Six children: Gary (Denise) Balik, Little Turkey, IA; Dale Balik, Protivin, IA; Judy (Gene) Riha, Ridgeway, IA; Lori (Gary) Schutte, Castalia, IA; Jane (Pat) Wedo, Castalia, IA and Alan (Sue) Balik, Ft. Atkinson, IA. Eleven grandchildren, three step grandchildren and one great grandchild. One sister: Evelyn Ryan, Decorah, IA. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents: John and Rose Balik. One brother: Richard Balik. Three sisters: Dorothy Bouska, Helen Kout and Marie Balik.
