Randy Bakken

Randy Bakken, age 66, of Spillville, IA, died on Monday, September 27, 2021, at his home in Spillville. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 1, 2021 at the First Lutheran Church, 604 West Broadway with Rev. Dennis Niezwaag presiding. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue in Decorah and also after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Friday. The Schluter-Balik Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Randall Bakken was born on June 21, 1955 the son of Nels and Betty (Gilbert) Bakken at their home in Decorah, IA. He attended Decorah Schools and then enlisted in the United States Army. After his time in the military, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Reilly construction in Ossian. Randy then worked as a welder for Featherlite in Cresco, where he would retire from. Randy enjoyed taking his bass boat on fishing trips and to fishing tournaments, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and golfing at Silvercrest. He was a very generous soul and always put other people first. Randy is survived by his siblings: Sandra (Arnie) Dotzler, Belvidere, IL, Robert (Peggy) Bakken, Isanti, MN, Becky (Darcy) Rosendahl, Ridgeway, IA, Reg (Amy) Bakken, Decorah, IA, Keith Bakken, Spillville, IA, Tom Bakken, Cresco, IA, Rick (Julie) Bakken, Decorah, IA, and Mary Ann (Steve) Leonard, Cherry Valley, IL. Brother-in-law: Gary Dotzler, Roscoe, IL. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Nels and Betty (Gilbert) Bakken. Sister: Dianne Dotzler. Paternal grandparents: Knut and Bertha Bakken. Maternal grandparents: Oscar and Bertha Gilbert.
