Randall " Randy" Dotzenrod

Randall "Randy" Dotzenrod, age 73, of Calmar, IA passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church 304 S Maryville St, Calmar, IA with Rev. Henry Huber presiding. Burial will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar.  There will be no visitation prior to the service on Thursday, attendees are asked to please come in and be seated.

Randy was born in Decorah, IA, on October 1, 1951, to Elwyn (Dutch) and Phyllis (Huber) Dotzenrod. He graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1969.  He was united in marriage to Jean (Dudding) Dotzenrod on July 12, 1980, in Bancroft, IA. Randy worked commercial and residential plumbing, and owned R&R Plumbing and Heating in Calmar and retired due to health reasons in 2007.

Randy was a wonderful husband, brother, father, uncle and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going to breakfast with his brothers on Saturday mornings, fishing, watching sports, and playing cards. He was a member of the Calmar Corvette Club. He loved grilling (especially for out-of-town guests) and eating said grilled food. After retirement, when he was no longer able to physically help people, he would often assist people, solving their plumbing problems over the phone. He prided himself in his gardening and most recently began a strawberry bed that he asked his grandchildren to help carry on in his remembrance.

Randy is survived by three children: Rochelle (Jacob Christensen) of Plymouth, MN, Mark (Jenni Huinker), of Decorah, IA, and Lori (Steve) Stenstrom of Highlands Ranch, CO.  Eight grandchildren: Stella, Liam, Woodlynne, Willow, Brooke, Blake, Lindsay and Ashley.  He is further survived by his nine siblings: Elwyn, Jr. (Judy) Dotzenrod, Richard (Dana) Dotzenrod, Karen (Bob) Friest, Mary (Ken) Schissel, James Dotzenrod, Kevin Dotzenrod, Laurie (Bill) Kesterson, Lisa (Tim) Crowley, and Lynette (Terri) Wenthold and many nieces and nephews.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents: Elwyn (Dutch) and Phyllis: Sister-in-law: Sandy Dotzenrod and his niece: Wendy Dotzenrod Ney.

Randy will be forever remembered by the love he extended to everyone he knew and cherished.
