Randall W. Carlson

Randall Warren Carlson, 61, of Lake City, formerly of Decorah, died Monday March 21, 2016 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City, Iowa. Randy was born in Decorah, Iowa on July 6, 1954 to Frederic Arnold and Marjorie Anne (Reed) Carlson. Randy was placed in the Hillcrest Baby Fold in Dubuque as a toddler. He later resided at the Powell School in Red Oak and the Woodward State Hospital and School. In 1989, Randy moved to Opportunity Living in Lake City, where he flourished under the guidance of the loving and caring staff. Randy is survived by his father, Frederic A. (Loma) Carlson, Decorah; three brothers, F. Reed (Sandy) Carlson, Decorah; Garth M. (Donna) Carlson, Bettendorf; Bradford A. Carlson, Decorah and one sister, Lara T.E. (Garth) Dolphin of Gales Ferry, CT. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Anne Carlson; one sister, Christine Ann Garvin, along with his paternal grandparents, Frederic Hjalmar and Helen E. (Arnold) Carlson and maternal grandparents, Claude E. and Mary A. (Bendergast) Reed. A private family burial service is planned for a later date. Randy gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation to the Iowa Donor Network. Memorial donations in Randy’s name may be given to Opportunity Living, 1890 E. Main St., Lake City, IA 51449.
