Rudolph “Rudy” Pitzenberger, age 93, of Jackson Junction, IA, died on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, Iowa with Rev. Nick March presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m., on Monday and until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Chekal Chapel, in Fort Atkinson, Iowa. There will be a rosary 4:00 and a scripture at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Rudolph Mathew Pitzenberger was born on October 15, 1917, the son of John J. and Rose (Koci) Pitzenberger in Jackson Junction, IA. Rudy attended school in Jackson Junction and high School in Waucoma. He was drafted into the US Army, and served for three and a half years in the Medical Corps; he was discharged in February of 1946. Rudy grew up and worked in the Pitzenberger General Store in Jackson Junction. He was a salesman, where he jobbed and sold popcorn most of his life. Rudy was dedicated to his flock of Suffolk sheep for many years, just recently selling them a few months ago. Rudy married Viola Chipera on October 22, 1963, at St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, IA. Rudy served on the Jackson Junction Town Council and was mayor of Jackson Junction for twelve years. Rudy was a member of St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic Church and the Huber Steffes American Legion Post #672. Rudy’s survivors include his wife: Viola Pitzenberger, Jackson Junction, IA. One daughter: Jolene (Steve) Timp, Dyersville, IA. Two grandchildren: Cami and Wyatt Timp. One sister-in-law: Cecilia Leuenberger, Lawler, IA. Two brothers-in-law: Leonard (Nerissa) Chipera, Jackson Junction, IA, and Paul (Lillian) Chipera, Fort Atkinson, IA, along with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents: John J. and Rose (Koci) Pitzenberger. One brother: Lawrence (Lena) Pitzenberger. One brother-in-law: Eugene Leuenberger
