Philip Blair, age 38, of Miamisburg, OH, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at his home. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 27, 2012, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 307 West Main Street, in Decorah, with Rev. Phil Gibbs presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends and family after the service. Philip Douglas Blair was born on October 12, 1973, the son of Douglas Elmer and Jane Marie (Holthaus) Blair in San Antonio, Texas. Philip received his GED in 1993. He later attended Miami-Jacobs Career College earning an Associate in Network Engineering in 2004. In his youth Philip enjoyed playing tennis. He competed in numerous tournaments and collected various medals and trophies for his talent. As an adult, Philip developed a passion for computers and technology. He enjoyed building and programming computers and computer software applications. Through his personal struggles Philip maintained a kind heart and gentle spirit. Philip was a compassionate person and had a sense of humor that affected all those around him. Philip placed little value on material possessions rather finding happiness and contentment through time spent with friends and family. He particularly cherished time spent with his two nephews who allowed him to clear his mind of life’s troubles and enjoy the innocence that only children possess. Philip’s survivors include his father Doug Blair, Miamisburg, OH. Two sisters: Jennifer Blair, Plano, TX, and Katie McConnell & husband Michael, McKinney, TX. Two nephews: Colin and Owen McConnell, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Philip was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Blair in 2010. Grandparents: Phyllis Blair in 2005, Hilda Holthaus in 1987 and Raymond Holthaus in 1964. One uncle: Ken Holthaus in 2010; one aunt Patricia Seiler in 2010 and one cousin Teresa Holthaus in 1961.
