Peter J. Kriener

Peter J. Kriener, age 39, of Fort Atkinson, Iowa, died on Thursday, May 2, 2013, as a result of injuries from an automobile accident near Festina, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas, Iowa, with Rev. Nick March presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m., on Monday, May 6, 2013, and also after 9:00 a.m., on Tuesday at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be given to Peter’s son, Karter Kriener’s College Fund. Peter Jerome Kriener was born on August 6, 1973, the son of Peter A. and Diane (Soukup) Kriener in New Hampton, Iowa. Peter attended St. John’s and St. Luke’s Catholic Schools, and graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1991. He worked for Rausch and Son and then returned to the family farm to partner with his two brothers, Arlen and Jeremy. Peter was united in marriage to Kaiya Hageman on August 2, 2008 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas and they are the proud parents of Karter who was born on Jan. 20, 2011. Little Karter was the sunshine of Peter’s life and he loved his little guy. Peter enjoyed collecting semis and tractors, playing softball, socializing with friends, hunting, fishing and playing pool and golf. He also was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. Peter was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, the Foresters, and Farm Bureau. Peter is survived by his wife: Kaiya Kriener, Fort Atkinson, IA. His son, Karter Kriener, age two, at home. His parents: Peter and Diane Kriener, Fort Atkinson, IA. Five siblings: Deb (Kerri) Langreck, St. Lucas, IA; Arlen (Annette) Kriener, Fort Atkinson, IA; Jeremy (Samantha) Kriener, Fort Atkinson, IA; Denise (friend, Kurt Zirtzman) Kriener, Ryan, IA; and Sara Kriener, Cedar Falls, IA. Seven nephews: Kyle & Kalvin Langreck; Bradley, Marcus, Jordan & Mitchell Kriener; and Caleb Kriener. His father-in-law: Neil Hageman, Fort Atkinson, IA. Step father-in-law: Daryl Schmitt, Ft. Atkinson, IA. Sister-in-law: Kara (friend, Kerry Kleve) Hageman, Calmar, IA. Grandparents: James Soukup, Decorah, IA, and Christine Kolaas, Calmar, IA, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. Peter was preceded in death by his sister: Annette Kriener in infancy in 1981. Grandparents: Mary Soukup, Peter and Mary Kriener. His mother-in-law: Robyn Hageman Schmitt in 2008.
