Penelope N. Allen, age 59 of Decorah, died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at home. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 9, 2013 at First Lutheran Church in Decorah with Rev. Gary Lee officiating. Visitation begins on Saturday at 1:00 P.M., one hour before services, at the church. Penelope N. (Noble) Allen was born on September 22, 1953 in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, the daughter of James Levis and Gertrude Evelyn (Eich) Noble. She graduated from high school in Franklin, Indiana with the class of 1972. She then attended Luther College in Decorah. She was united in marriage to Randall W. Allen on April 17, 1982 at First Lutheran Church in Decorah. They had two children: Reed and Jillian. Penelope worked at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital as a bookkeeper and business office manager for 27 years, then at Fred Carlson Company and Knife River as a bookkeeper for 7 years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. Penelope loved gardening, crafting, camping, all of her children’s activities, including Nordic Dancers and Nordic Fest, her family and friends, and her pet dogs. She liked to travel to Cozumel, Mexico and was a huge fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Gertrude Noble. Penelope is survived by her husband, Randall; two children, Reed (Holly) Allen of Decorah and Jillian Allen of Denver, CO; her sister, Pam Humphrey of Black River Falls, WI; and by three sisters-in-law: Cheryl Allen, Dianne Allen and Lynne (Bruce) Meyer, all of Decorah.
