Paul Heid

Paul Heid, age 88, of Decorah, iowa, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah following a short illness. Mass of the CHristian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 18, 2004 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah. Rev. Gary F. Krapfl will officiate and burial will be in St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery in Decorah. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 A.M. on Friday at the church. Fjelstul Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Paul Heid was born on August 20, 1915 in a small village in Russia, the son of Johanus and Anna Heid. He was united in marriage with Sabine (Fall) Heid in 1939 in Russia. To this union two sons were born: John and Thomas. Paul and his family moved to Emmetsburg, IA in January of 1952. They then moved to Decorah in March of 1959. Paul and Sabina farmed for many years in Canoe Township, Winneshiek County, IA. He has been a resident of the Aase Haugen Home since May 7, 2004. Paul died on Sunday, June 13, 2004 at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah following a short illness, at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sabina, on December 9, 2003; his son, Thomas on April 10, 1999; and by two brothers. He is survived by his son, John (Carolyn) of Mt. Airy, MD; three grandchildren and one great-grandson: Kathryn (Damon) Quigley and their son Liam of Frederick, MD, Jonathan Heid of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Christopher (Jessica) Heid of Hagerstown, MD.
