Graveside Inurnment services for Friends and Family of Patrick J. Cunningham will be held at 12:30 P.M. Sunday, July 25, 2004 at Phelps Cemetery in Decorah, Iowa. Rev. Steven Jacobsen will officiate. Fjelstul Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Patrick John Cunningham, 56, of Goodyear, Arizona died May 16th, 2004, under Home Hospice care following a valiant fight with cancer. A funeral service was held at The Church at Litchfield Park on Thursday, May 20th, at 11:00 A.M. in Litchfield Park, Arizona with Rev. Terry Swicegood officiating. Pat was born July 16th 1947 the son of Francis and Veronica Cunningham in Minneapolis, Mn. Pat was united in marriage to Jana Bernatz on September 27th 1986, in Decorah, Iowa. Pat worked for Doyle Security Products in Minneapolis, Minnesota for over 20 years. In 2000 he and Jana were transferred to Phoenix, Arizona. He worked at the Greater Auto Auction of Phoenix until his diagnosis with cancer in March of 2003. Pat was an active member of the Brooklyn Park, Mn. Jaycees as a young man, ALOA Locksmith organization, Pebble Creek softball team, and a member of the Church at Litchfield Park. One of Pat’s greatest joys was spending time with family and friends. Pat also enjoyed playing golf, softball, skiing, boating, and tennis. His last year of life was filled with much of his time going through cancer treatment and hospital visits. Through all of this Pat had a strong will and desire to beat this disease. In the end the cancer may have taken his life but his spirit will be with all of us who enjoyed his friendship and companionship. Patrick is survived by his wife, Jana (Bernatz) Cunningham of Goodyear, Az., Ida Cunningham of Staples, Mn., Mark and Tammy Cunningham of Overland Park, Ks. Terri Cunningham of MountLake Terrace, WA., Diana and Bob Ness of Purcellville, Va. In-Laws Howard and Wanda Bernatz, Greg and Kari Rude of Decorah, Ia. Pat was proceeded in death by his father and mother, his brother Tom Cunningham and an aunt Genevieve Groetchel.
