Patricia “Pat” Luren, age 86, of Decorah, IA, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Hawkeye Care Center in Carroll, IA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 2, 2016, at the Decorah Lutheran Church, 309 Winnebago Street, Decorah, IA, with Rev. David Sorenson and Rev. Charis Combs-Lay presiding. Burial will be in the Phelps Cemetery, Decorah, IA. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m., at the Church on Monday morning. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah is in charge of arrangements. Patricia Ann (Amundson) Luren was born on March 24, 1930, the daughter of Robert and Ruth (Kramer) Amundson in Spring Valley, MN. She grew up in Decorah and attended Decorah High School graduating in 1948. Pat was united in marriage to Martin Luren on August 12, 1950, at the Methodist Church in Decorah. Pat worked at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for a short time, and at Wapsie Produce, Construction Lumber, and was a Deputy Auditor for Winneshiek County in Decorah. In 1975, Pat started working for the City of Decorah. She retired in 1993, serving for eighteen years as the City Clerk, Treasurer and Administrator. Pat enjoyed traveling, reading, watching movies and keeping her home immaculate. She was a member of the Decorah Lutheran Church and Circle. Pat volunteered at the Winneshiek Medical Center and at the Vesterheim Museum. Pat is survived by her two daughters: Lynn (Mark) Heino, Carroll, IA, and Ann (Martin) Melberg, Blaine, MN. Grandchildren: Martin Hilberg, Katherine Jarvis, Martin Melberg, Brady Melberg, Clinton Heino, Dustin (Stacy) Heino and Kelsey Heino. Great grandchildren: Connor Heino and Landon Heino. Brother: John (Margaret) Amundson, Battle Creek, MI, along with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Ruth (Kramer) Amundson. Her husband: Marty Luren on August 22, 1997. Her father and mother-in-law: Martin and Florence (Styve) Luren. Brothers: Charles Amundson, Benjamin (Judy) Amundson, Eugene Amundson and Robert Amundson. Sister: Mary (Frank) Cunnion.
