Otto “Bob” Hummel, age 91, of Waterloo, Iowa, died on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, Iowa. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo, IA. Otto Robert “Bob” Hummel was born on August 26, 1921, the son of Harry and Nina (Hostetler) Hummel in Waterloo, Iowa. Bob attended school at Waterloo West High School and served in the US Army from 1942-43. Bob operated the Waterloo Lumber Yard, a Bowling Alley and Car Wash in Waterloo. Bob was married to Barbara J. Short on May 24, 1971, in Las Vegas, NV. Together they enjoyed the time spent in Arizona. He was a member of the Martin Lodge #624 AF & AM Masonic Lodge in Waterloo, Iowa, for sixty-seven years. He enjoyed woodworking, socializing and playing cards. Bob is survived by his two sons: William Paul (Constance) Hummel, Red Rock, AZ, and Robert Charles Hummel, Evansdale, IA. Two sisters-in-law: Florence Gehling, Decorah, IA, and Sally (Les) Sevcik, Traer, IA, along with several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jack on Sept. 20, 2012, and his wife Barbara Hummel on Dec. 16, 2010.
