     Orvetta Aswegan, age 77, of Decorah, IA died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Wellington Place in Decorah, IA.      Memorial Services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2015, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, Decorah, IA, with Pastor Bryan Robertson presiding.      Visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2015, at the Schluter Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, Decorah, IA, on Saturday.      Orvetta Ruth (Halweg) Aswegan was born on August 25, 1938, the daughter of Henry and Adeline (Hoppe) Halweg in Cresco, IA. Orvetta graduated from Decorah High School in 1957.   On February 1, 1957, in Elk Pointe, South Dakota, Richard and Orvetta Ruth Halweg were united in marriage. They have shared 56 years of marriage and were blessed with six children: Debra, Randall, Richard, Jr., Steven, Terry and Sandra. While Richard served in the US Air Force, Orvetta moved along with him and their family, until settling in Decorah in 1975. Orvetta worked as a cook at Aase Haugen Nursing Home retiring at the age of 55. Orvetta loved taking care of her grandchildren, reading, camping and collecting Cardinals. While at Wellington Place, she enjoyed being the caller for BINGO and on the Resident’s Council. She had a great sense of humor and a ready smile for all.      Orvetta is survived by her three children: Debra (Dennis) Dakin of Knoxville, IA; Richard Aswegan, Jr. of West Union, IA and Steven (Kim) Aswegan of Calmar, IA; five grandchildren: Tiffany (Andy) Kimber, Tabitha Aswegan and Travis Aswegan, Connor and Myla Dakin; three step grandchildren: Dennis Dakin, Jr., Mary Rose Lucas and April Dakin; and six step great-grandchildren: J.R., Sydney, Landon, Miles, Ian and Zachary. Two sisters: Carol Hinton, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Jo Ann (John) Sharp, Decorah, IA. Along with five nieces and nephews: Heather Steele, Andrew Sharp, Lauren Sharp, Michael (Ruby) Koshatka and Janelle (Doug Dawson) Kostatka. Orvetta is also survived by Richard’s siblings: Emil and Robert Aswegan; Caroline Nelson, Peggy Packett, Lorena Krummenoehl, Jeannie Frazier and Neta Kisner, and several nieces and nephews.      Orvetta was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Adeline (Hoppe) Halweg. Her husband: Richard Aswegan on Aug. 2, 2013. One son: Randall Aswegan. Two daughters: Sandra Anderson and Terry Aswegan. Two brothers: Everett and Wayne Halweg. One nephew: Wayne Koshatka. Her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Glenn and Neta (Harris) Aswegan. One brother-in-law: Lyle Aswegan.
