Norma Holthaus

Norma D. Holthaus, age 81, of Decorah, IA, passed away Tuesday morning, February 18, 2020 at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah with Pastor Nancy Solomonson officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah later this spring. Visitation will be on Thursday beginning at 3:00 p.m., one hour before the service, at Fjelstul Funeral Home. Norma D. Holthaus was born on March 12, 1938 in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Arlin and Ruth (Berg) Ruffridge. She attended Decorah Schools and graduated from Decorah High School with the Class of 1956. Norma was united in marriage with Wayne D. Barth on June 15, 1956. To this union, six children were born: Kristi, Kim, Kevin, Kyra, Kory and Dan. Norma stayed at home as a full-time mother, raising her children. Then later she worked at Rockwell Collins for 17 years. Norma liked to bake, sew, read and work outside, and she loved animals. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlin and Ruth Ruffridge; one brother Robert Ruffridge; and three sisters: Arlys Malli, Audrey Courtney and Mary Jo Natt. Norma is survived by three daughters, Kristi (Darrel) Massman of Waupaca, WI, Kim Olson of Parker, CO, Kyra (Jeff) Barsi of Bonham, TX; three sons, Kevin (Kim) Barth of Decorah, IA, Kory (Hanna) Barth of Florence, CO, Dan Barth of Decorah, IA; 14 grandchildren, Hannah (James) Girard, Aaron Massman, Ellyn (Bill) Pfalzgraf, Laura Kirchman, Sarah Berner, Lucas Olson, Erica Olson, Jeremy Barth (fiancé Caroline), Nicholas (Megan) Barth, Tiffany Barth, Tyler Barth, Jeffrey (Amanda) Barsi, Elizabeth Barsi and Alex (Elicia) Barsi; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
