Nita Albertson

Nita Albertson, age 78, of Calmar, IA, died on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Barthell Eastern Star Home in Decorah, IA. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the Stone Ridge Church, 1111 Montgomery Street, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Ed Krawczyk presiding. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery, Ridgeway, IA. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., on Friday, March 31, 2017, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, Decorah, IA, and also after 9:30 a.m., at the church on Saturday morning.   Nita Mae (Nelson) Albertson was born on August 3, 1938, the daughter of Kermit and Gertrude (Nath) Nelson in Riceville, IA. Nita attended rural country schools and graduated from Riceville High School in 1956. She was active in 4-H and raised calves on the family farm to enter in the fair. She worked as a telephone operator in Decorah and also at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Nita was united in marriage to Ronald Albertson on September 21, 1958, in Riceville, IA. Together they farmed north of Spillville, IA. She was an active farm wife and loved all aspects of farming. She enjoyed cooking, making cakes, sewing, embroidering and going fishing. Nita also liked to help at polling. Nita enjoyed taking many bus trips with the farm wives from Winneshiek Coop. She also enjoyed going to the Iowa State Fair with her sister, Marlene and niece, Barbara. Nita was a member of the Stone Ridge Community Church in Decorah.   Nita is survived by her husband, Ronald Albertson, Calmar, IA. One son: Duane (Beth) Albertson, Calmar, IA. Three grandchildren: Rachael (Kevin) Andera, Calmar, IA, Sara (Logan) Einck, Festina, IA, and Eric (Alicia Otto) Albertson, Calmar, IA.  Five great grandchildren: Hayden, Landon and Nolan Andera; Jackson Einck and Canaan Albertson. One sister: Marlene (Roger) Berg, Decorah, IA. One brother: Curtis Nelson, Riceville, IA. One brother-in-law: Louis (Norma) Albertson, Calmar, IA. Two sisters-in-law: Debra (Tom) Lensch, Decorah, IA, and Jane Albertson, Rochester, MN.   Nita was preceded in death by her parents: Kermit and Gertrude (Nath) Nelson. Father-in-law and mother-in-law: Orlando and Florence Albertson. Two brothers-in-law: Orlando Parnell Albertson and Roger (Betty) Albertson.
