Milo Harvey, age 88, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Thursday, June 22, 2006, at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah, Iowa, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at the Decorah Lutheran Church, with Rev. Bryan Robertson officiating. Burial will be in the Frankville Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, in Decorah, and after 12:00 noon at the church on Tuesday morning. There will be a VFW Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Frankville Cemetery Association, % Loren Brandt, 1362 175th Street, Postville, IA 52162. Milo LaVern Harvey was born on February 24, 1918, the son of Harry Earle and Evelyn Sophia (Brouillet) Harvey in Frankville, Iowa. Milo was baptized on March 31, 1929 at the Community Church in Frankville, IA and confirmed on December 14, 1947 at the Decorah Lutheran Church. Milo attended Frankville Public Schools and graduated from Postville High School on May 27, 1935. He married Alma Verdie Matter on March 19, 1939, in MacGregor, Iowa. Prior to entering the service, Milo served as a civilian radio instructor with the US Army Corps. He served in WWII in the US Navy, from January 23, 1945 to March 29, 1946. He then returned to Decorah and owned and operated Harvey’s Radio and TV until he retired in 1993. Milo enjoyed fishing, bowling, softball, golfing and bow hunting. He was a member of the Decorah Lutheran Church and the I.O.O.F. Lodge. Milo’s survivors include his wife, Alma Harvey, Decorah, IA. Two sons: Gerald Harvey, Decorah, IA and Dennis (Elaine) Harvey, Bel Aire, KS. Six grandchildren: Donna (Kevin) Eberling, Postville, IA; Darrell Harvey, West Hollywood, CA; Brian (Linda) Harvey, Dyersville, IA; Timothy Harvey, Kansas City, MO; Debra (Patrick) Ary, Wichita, KS and Andrew Harvey, Falls Church, VA. Seven great grandchildren: Thomas, Christopher, Michelle and Rachel Severson; Keona Eberling; Madison Harvey and Evelyn Ary. One brother: Leonard (Ethyle) Harvey, Milton, WI. Milo was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew: Michael Harvey.
