Michael J. Anderson

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 10, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Decorah with Rev. John Caldwell officiating. Inurnment will be in Phelps Cemetery in Decorah. Visitation will be after 10:00 A.M. Monday, one hour before services, at First United Methodist Church. Michael James Anderson was born July 13, 1959 in Decorah, Iowa to James and Evelyn (Roney) Anderson. He attended school in Decorah and graduated from Decorah High School with the class of 1979. In 1980, Mike moved to Wyoming to help care for his grandmother Helen Davis. He worked in a couple of restaurants in Lusk, Wyoming. In 2005, he moved back to Decorah to help take care of his parents and he began working at Hotel Winneshiek in food service. Mike had a quirky sense of humor, enjoyed reminiscing with old friends, followed high school football and he loved his cats. He was baptized and confirmed at First United Methodist Church in Decorah. Mike died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at home unexpectedly at age 53. Mike is survived by his parents, Jim and Evelyn (Evie) Anderson of Decorah; one sister, Kari (Rick) Winters of Kingsland, GA; two nieces: Erin (Brian) Reynolds and Rachel Winters; one nephew, Andrew Winters; and three great nephews and niece: Sean, Alisson and Caleb.
