Maxine M. Falck, age 90, of Decorah, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at her home in Decorah, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Burr Oak Lutheran Church in Burr Oak, IA, by Rev. Matt Larson, with burial in Burr Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, March 6 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah, and on Saturday one hour before the service at the church. Maxine Marjorie (Cassel) Falck was born October 23, 1918, in Bluffton, Iowa, the daughter of David C. and Elizabeth (MacIntire) Cassel. She was baptized on April 17, 1938. She completed Eighth Grade in the Public Schools of Winneshiek County, Burr Oak Township No. 8 (Lost Nation School) and then graduated from Burr Oak High School with the class of 1937. Maxine attended Luther College in Decorah, to earn her teaching certificate, and then continued to take classes for many years to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree. She was united in marriage to Arlin C. Falck on December 30, 1941 at First United Methodist Church in Decorah. This union was blessed with one son, Jerry. Maxine taught at Winneshiek County Schools from 1938 until 1973. Later in her life she taught at North Winn School as a kindergarten and first grade teacher. Maxine was a member of Burr Oak Lutheran Church, Joan of Arc Club and Eunice Circle. She grew up in the Burr Oak Methodist Church, was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church for many years and then became a member of Burr Oak Lutheran Church in 1992. She was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Arlin, on September 2, 1995; her brother, Sam Cassel; her sisters, Gladys Arnold, Annabelle Cassel, Bernice Halse, Audrey Lovlien; and all there spouses; her brothers-in-law: Alvin Falck and Vernon Bender; her sisters-in-law, Evelyn Roney, Marge Webber, Henrietta Schaack and Ann Brooks; and all there spouses. Maxine is survived by her son, Jerry (Marilyn) Falck of Decorah; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
