Maxine Boyer, age 59, of St. Lucas, Iowa died on January 14, 2005 at home with her family after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 17, 2005 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas, Iowa with Rev. Marvin Salz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday at the St. Luke’s Chapel from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and on Monday morning until 10:30 a.m. There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. Maxine Rosina (Hageman) Boyer was born on March 23, 1945 in Decorah, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Ida (Ehler) Hageman. She graduated from St. Francis de Sales Catholic School in Ossian, Iowa. Maxine married Dennis C. Boyer on June 2, 1970 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, Iowa. They resided in St. Lucas and were active members of the community and parish. She served as President of the Home School Association and Rosary Society and was an elected member of the Parish Council. She was founder of the Trees Forever committee in St. Lucas. She spent countless hours gardening, baking, doing embroidery and tending to her home and family. For the past nineteen years, she helped manage and operate the family-owned feed business. Maxine’s survivors include her husband of thirty-four years, Dennis C. Boyer, St. Lucas, IA. Three sons: Dennis F. Boyer, “Junior” & wife Bonnie, Calmar, IA; Duane Boyer, St. Lucas, IA; and Kevin Boyer, St. Lucas, IA. One daughter: Joann Boyer-Chicken & husband Jason, Ossian, IA. Her Mother: Ida Hageman, Ossian, IA. One sister: Elaine (Larry) Heying, Calmar, IA. Seven brothers: Frank (Judy) Hageman, Jr., Decorah, IA; Alvin (Deb) Hageman, Ossian, IA; Dennis Hageman, Calmar, IA; Rueben (Zandra) Hageman, Calmar, IA; Vernon (Irene) Hageman, Calmar, IA, Neil Hageman, Calmar, IA and Martin (Cindy) Hageman, Fort Atkinson, IA. Several brothers and sisters-in-law: Sr. Margaret Boyer, FSPA, Villa St. Joseph. Gene Boyer, St. Lucas, IA; Flavia (Norbert) Lechtenberg, Fort Atkinson, IA; Arlene Boyer, Dubuque, IA and many nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her Dad, Frank Hageman, Sr.; several brothers-in-law: Leonard, Raymond, Andrew and Larry. One great niece: Brittany Weis and one great nephew: A.J. Boyer and many close dear friends.
