Mary Lou Gant

Mary Lou Gant, age 73, of Decorah, IA died on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Wellington Place in Decorah. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Helms Funeral Home - 604 South Ave, Decorah, IA 52101. Burial will be held at a later date in Platte, SD. Mary Lou Gant was born on November 11, 1948, in Parkston, SD to Ralph and Nada (Sly) Voetberg. She graduated from Platte High School in 1966. Mary Lou was united in marriage with Michael Gant on Feb 24, 1968, in Platte SD. They later divorced. Mary Lou was a homemaker, worked in area factories, and was an avid crafter and loved gardening. Mary Lou is survived by her Children Michelle (Shelly) (Jed) Dolley of Decorah IA and Corey (Tasha) Gant of Waterloo IA, Grandchildren Makinzie (Ben) Dugger, Amber Foster, Parker Monroe, and Paisley Gant. Siblings Faye (Bob) Morhauser, Ralph (Holly) Voetberg, and Scott (Julie) Voetberg. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Ralph Voetberg, Nada and Jim Peck. Brother: Rex Voetberg. Children: Leanne Foster and Shawn Gant. The family gives special thanks to Wellington Place and St Croix Hospice for their care.
