Mary F. (Eaton) Hurley, age 68, of Decorah, Iowa, died Thursday, September 11, 2008 at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester, MN. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Mierhoffer Funeral Home Chapel in St. Joseph, Missouri. Visitation will be at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, September 14, 2008. Mary F. Eaton Hurley was born August 21, 1940 in St. Joseph, Mo, the daughter of Estel A. and Violet L. (Fry) Eaton Sr. On July 1, 1980, Mary was united in marriage with John Hurley in Colorado Springs, CO. Mary worked as a health care provider for many years and for 10 years she owned and operated a care facility for the elderly in Colorado Springs, CO, retiring in 1997. She has made her home in Freeport, IA for the last six years. Mary took the hand of the Lord and Savior and was lifted into a holy place on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN as a result of a respiratory condition. She was 68 years old. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Estel and Violet; son, John Patrick Hurley; and grandson, Spc. Joshua J. Munger. Mary is survived by her husband, John of Freeport, IA; two daughters: Susan (David) Bruening of Decorah, IA and Terri Munger and her partner, Teresa Rivera of St. Joseph, MO; two sons: Jim (Barbara) Root of Colorado Springs, CO and Robert Hurley of Concret, WA; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers: Rev. Thomas (Karen) Eaton of Monroe, LA and Estel A. Eaton Jr.; nieces and nephews.
