Marvin Phillips, age 81, of Fort Atkinson, IA, died on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at his home in Fort Atkinson surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 10, 2020, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 201 Oak Street, Fort Atkinson, IA, with Rev. Jacob Rouse presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday morning at the church. Masks will be required for anyone attending. In Lieu of flowers: Memorials may be made to the family in memory of Marvin. Alice Phillips, PO Box 185, Fort Atkinson, IA 52144 Marvin Ludger Phillips was born on November 17, 1938 the son of Ludger and Margaret (Pechota) Phillips near Conover, IA. He attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School for eight years and graduated from Calmar High School. Marvin’s father passed away in August of 1957. After graduation, Marvin stayed home and farmed with his mother and sister Shirley. On June 27, 1961, Marvin married Alice Krivacek at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson. Marvin was an entrepreneur with his farming, construction business and automobile business. He was a very hard worker and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or do. He was on the Ft. Atkinson Fire Dept. for a few years and part of the businessman’s association. He belonged to St. John’s Catholic Church Fort Atkinson. His greatest loves were his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and card playing. Marvin is survived by his wife Alice of 59 years. Children: DiAnne (David) Nienhaus, Fort Atkinson, IA; Susie (Kevin) Ronkowski, Fort Atkinson, IA; Julie (Randy) Lenth, Fertile, IA and Allen Phillips (special friend, Allison), Solon, IA. Grandchildren: Alyson (Brandon) Haugen, Nicholas (Jared) Nienhaus, Kristina (Tim) Mansheim, Matt (Chloe) Fjetland, Lucas Fjetland, Jenny (Jeremy) Gomez, Bryan (Jamie) Sloan, Kyle and Seth Phillips. Twelve great-grandchildren. Sister: Shirley Klimesh, Spillville, IA. Sisters-in-law: Margaret (Serenus) Elsbernd, Fort Atkinson, IA: Vi Krivacek, Fort Atkinson, IA along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Ludger and Margaret Phillips Busch. Step father: Cletus Busch. Father and mother-in-law: William and Otilila (Martinek) Krivacek. Sisters and brothers-in-law: Beatrice (Albert) Tenderholt, Corina (Ronald) Scholbrock, Arthur (Christine) Krivacek, Sonny Krivacek, Paul Glass, and Gordon Klimesh.
