Martin "Marty" Bina

Martin “Marty” Bina, age 60 of Decorah (formerly of Spillville) died on Monday, February 6, 2023, at Evans Memorial Homes in Cresco. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2023, at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, IA. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Father Henry Huber presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church Friday morning. Martin “Marty” Bina was born in Decorah, Iowa, on July 23, 1962 to Victor and Lillian (Triska) Bina. Martin grew up in Spillville, attending local schools and graduating from Abner Hendrickson School in Decorah, Iowa. Marty eventually resided at Wellington Place for several years and was a member of the Spectrum Network in Decorah doing numerous jobs. Once Wellington Place no longer cared for persons with certain disabilities, Marty joined the MOSAIC group where he also resided in Decorah, and later in Waukon. After covid hit, Marty decided to retire from Spectrum. If you ever met Marty, he left an everlasting impression on you. No matter how bad a person’s day was, even though Marty couldn’t speak clearly, he would bring a ray of sunshine to your day. Marty was also a prankster; you really never knew what was going through his mind until it happened. It could have been flushing items down the toilet, throwing items out of the car window, to throwing his Mother's shoes into the basement and running outside laughing. There really wasn’t a dull moment with Marty. Marty’s pass times included going for rides, watching the trains going through Calmar, listening to Johnny Cash music, watching TV (Westerns were number one), playing with his UNO cards and did I mention coloring. Whether you met Marty for 30 seconds or knew him for 30 years he always left a positive impression on your life. Left to cherish the memory of Marty are Sister-In Laws; Jean Bina of Forest City, IA and Diane Tverberg-Bina of Bloomington, MN. Nephew; Chris (Joan) Bina along with their children Alaina and Atley of Cresco, IA. Nephew; Chad (Jeanna) Bina along with their daughter Kiara of Forest City, IA. And Niece; Kayla (Jim) Dontje with their children Cooper and Joslyn of Forest City, IA.
