Martha Klimesh

Martha Klimesh, age 90, formerly of Spillville, Iowa, died on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at the Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton, Iowa, following a short illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, October 6, 2008, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa, with Rev. Donald Hawes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville, Iowa, and also after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Monday morning. There will be a scripture service at 3:00 p.m. and a rosary at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Martha Wilma (Woldan) Klimesh was born on July 28, 1918, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Zak) Woldan in rural Winneshiek County, Iowa. Martha attended St. Wenceslaus School. She married Elmer Klimesh on November 9, 1942, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa. Martha was a dear mother and homemaker, who enjoyed her children, cooking, baking and gardening. Martha entered the New Hampton Nursing and Rehab Center in 2004.She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, the Legion of Mary and the Catholic Workmen. Martha is survived by her two daughters: Elmarie Klimesh, Columbia, MO and Marcia (Norman) Knutson, New Hampton, IA. Two sons: Wenceslaus (Christa) Klimesh, Radcliff, KY and Gerald (Mary) Klimesh, Cuba City, WI. One son-in-law: Bill Rowell, Cedar Rapids, IA, along with ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. One sister: Alice Frey, New Hampton, IA. Martha was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Mary Woldan. Her husband: Elmer on September 25, 1971. Her daughter: Maryett Rowell on March 23, 1996. One brother: Frank Woldan. Three sisters: Regina Soukup, Frances Frey and Alma Frana.
