Marlene J. Taylor

Marlene J. Taylor, age 78, of Holmen, WI and formerly of Decorah, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Bluffview Memory Care in Holmen. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 11, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Decorah with Rev. John Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in Phelps Cemetery in Decorah. Visitation will be after 10:00 A.M. Friday, one hour before services, at First United Methodist Church. Marlene Joyce Taylor was born March 1, 1934 in Decorah, IA, the daughter of Dick and Viola (Banning) Latham. She graduated from Webster City High School with the class of 1952. She was united in marriage to Dave Taylor in New Hampton, IA on April 9, 1953. This union was blessed with two children: Terry and Bryan. Marlene worked at the phone company and then as a bookkeeper at Taylor Hardware, Decorah School District, Luther College, the Insurance Department at Security Bank and then she opened The Dog House in Decorah. She enjoyed walking, gardening, the outdoors, feeding the wildlife in her backyard, playing golf, playing cards, walking dogs and the company of cats. Marlene was a member of First United Methodist Church, Silvercrest Golf & Country Club, the Humane Society and Winneshiek County Mental Health Board. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dave on December 5, 2007 and two sisters, Elaine Marlowe and Lola Kopp. Marlene is survived by her daughter, Terry (Rick) Anderson of Mt. Vernon, IA; her son, M. Bryan (Tammy) Taylor of Holmen, WI; and five grandchildren: Taylor Dale Anderson, Ashley Rose Taylor, Jim Imhoff, Liz Imhoff and Hailey Imhoff.
